Rogue Valley Earth Day is a joyful, annual celebration for all ages to learn about environmental stewardship and build community in a fun and inspirational setting. Admission is free.



Toward a Zero Waste Event

Rogue Valley Earth Day strives to reduce and prevent waste!

Recycling: All recyclables are collected and sorted at volunteer-staffed Zero Waste stations.
Composting: Vendors are required to use biodegradable eatware, which is collected separately and composted. RVED and Jackson County Recycling Partnership provides an electric shredder for compostable materials.
Water on Wheels (WOW!): Mobile drinking water fountains will be featured at RVED, giving patrons a way to tap into potable water supplies to have a sip of water or refill their container.
Durables: In 2011, Rogue Valley Earth Day added silverware to its Zero Waste adventures, providing used utensils purchased from thrift stores at the food concessions. The durables will be collected separately for washing and reuse.
Waste Prevention: Most importantly, steps are taken to stop waste before it starts. Exhibitors are provided with suggestions and tips on ways to reduce the waste they make. Food vendors are asked to serve hand-held foods that require less disposables. The exhibitor application process is conducted via the web to reduce use of paper.
